How to Apply:

Before submitting your application we recommend you read the following information. It contains useful and practical advice on how to prepare, submit and follow up on your job application.

Once you have found the position you would like to apply for, be sure to download the Position Description (PD). The PD provides detailed information on the role and its performance measures which we will refer to throughout the application process.

We also encourage you to call the contact person and ask questions to find out more about the role.

When submitting your application, please ensure that you have attached at the minimum:

  • Cover email/letter
  • Resume

Cover Email/Letter

Your application should include a concise cover letter tailored to the job you are applying for.

Your cover email/letter should:

  • Explain why you are a suitable candidate
  • Tell us why you’d like to work for PCYC in particular

Personal statement addressing the key selection criteria

All roles in PCYC have Mandatory and Desirable Key Selection Criteria (KSC), and it is important that you also address these KSC, preferably in writing as part of your initial application or, if you are short-listed, during the selection/interview process.

A comprehensive and well-prepared application should include a personal statement addressing the KSC as part of the initial application.

As a part of your application to PCYC, you are expected to write a personal statement to help us get a better understanding of your knowledge, skills and experience. Your personal statement should relate to the job you are applying for and should describe how you meet each of the key select criteria set out in the role profile, which can be found at the bottom of the job advertisement.

Resume

All applications submitted to PCYC must be accompanied by a resume.  Please do not include photographs or password protect the document.

Submitting your application

All applications must be submitted via email to vacancies@pcyc.org.au

Once your application is successfully received by PCYC, we will send you an acknowledgment email.

Closing Dates

If the closing date for a position has passed, the job will be removed from our website. PCYC has a strict merit-based recruitment policy and, in consideration of fairness to all candidates, we will not consider applications received after the deadline date/time. Please be aware that the closing data applies to Queensland time (especially during daylight saving periods).

Short-listing

Short-listing of applications will take place soon after the closing date. The selection process for all advertised positions will involve a selection panel.  All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application and given the opportunity to seek feedback.  Due to the large volume of applications we receive, we are only able to contact short-listed candidates via email or telephone.

Interviews

At interview we will include specific behavioural type questions relating to your approach, attitude and experience of working in a similar capacity. These questions will be tailored to the role you have applied for. Subsequent interviews, if held, may involve follow-up questions where appropriate.

References

It is our policy to take up references at the point at which you are invited for a final interview or before an offer of employment is made. We require a minimum of two (2) references, of which at least one must be your current or previous direct line manager.  Relatives and/or partners are not to be cited as referees.  We will contact all referees, over the telephone in order to check the validity of the referee and ask specific questions about the referee’s opinion of your suitability for work within the capacity of the role for which you applied, as well as any areas for development.

International candidates and non-Australian residents

PCYC is committed to ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace and we value the experience international candidates bring to the organisation. However, the Australian Department of Immigration’s visa regulations do not always permit us to sponsor candidates to enter Australia and take up positions.

For more information for non-Australian residents regarding work visas, please visit www.immi.gov.au

Register Your Interest

Don’t be disappointed if we have no current vacancies which require your particular skills or experience.  We are always looking for new employees who demonstrate initiative and commitment to our mission of improving Queensland’s youth and their families through sport, recreation and other youth development activities.

If you feel you have skills, knowledge and/or experiences which might be utilised by PCYC to improve communities through youth development, please forward an expression of interest to us.  If we know you are interested in working in one of our 48+ Branches or our State Office, we’ll keep you in mind for vacancies as they occur.
