Volunteers
Why do PCYCs need volunteers?
Police-Citizens Youth Clubs need volunteers to assist with sport, recreation and leadership development programs for young people.
We aim to improve the life opportunities of young people so they can grow to become well functioning individuals and leaders in their communities.
Participating in healthy sports and acquiring life skills are of utmost importance in securing a positive future for young people. We take our commitment to growing communities through youth development seriously - 95% of PCYC branches are situated in localities identified as low socio economic areas; over 60% are situated in the top 50 high needs areas of Queensland.
Our staff – paid employees and volunteers – work with young people to help them form positive relationships and have positive role models who can teach them life skills through sport, recreation and leadership activities.
Many of our activities, especially youth development programs, frequently rely on volunteer involvement.
What are the benefits for volunteers?
The opportunity to provide skills for the future to young people in your community.
The opportunity to work with and receive support from a committed group of professionals.
We currently need volunteers in the following areas:
- Indoor and Outdoor Sports
- Youth leadership and development programs
- Outdoor weekend activities
Sometimes we also need help with:
- Clerical assistance
- Customer service/counter work
- Property maintenance work
