About Bayside PCYC
Bayside PCYC opened over 45 years old the Branch started at the Wynnum RSL and was
originally called the Wynnum PCYC. In the early years the club moved to
the Lota School of Arts where it was rebuilt and extended twice. In
2007 its name was changed to the Bayside PCYC to further identify with
its geographic location and community resulting in its motto "Something
for everyone by the bay".
The Bayside PCYC has always had a strong trampoline section with
competition representatives at state, national and Olympic levels. The
branch has four Outside School Hours Care programs and a vibrant
Vacation Care program that offers regular excursions.
Other activities
include a number of martial arts, gymnastics, squash, teen extreme,
little leapers, acrobatics, learn to swim, belly dancing, health &
fitness programs, bike education and school sports. One of the things
that make the branch unique is its therapy pool, which provides support
to many of the physically disabled members of our community.
The Bayside PCYC participates in the community's annual Spring Parade,
Harbour Rhythms and Halloween festivals. The branch has won the
Business Achievers "Community Service/Non-Profit Organizations" Award 5
times in the last 10 years.
We have almost 1,900 members and average over 6,000 attendances a
month. While we also have members coming from the Sunshine Coast to
train, our traditional membership base comes from Wynnum, Wynnum North,
Wynnum West, Tingalpa, Wakerley, Gumdale, Manly, Manly West, Thornside,
Birkdale and Lota.
