About Charters Towers PCYC
Established in the late 1980's, the club first occupied the Old School of Mines building then moved to the new building on Enterprise Road in 1991. The club philosophy is that ‘the Charters Towers PCYC is owned by the people of Charters Towers for the use of all in the community'.
Major achievements over the last three and a half years have been the upgrade of the function room, outside school hours care area, and the repainting and new roller shutters in the stadium.
Three members of the club have just been awarded Diamond Life membership, namely Bob and Shirley Mark and Merv Yule. Collectively, their contribution of over 60 years of volunteer work has been very significant.
A number of managers have come and gone over the years but the volunteer base has kept the club going. We have over 700 members. Our biggest demographic is the over 50s, who make up 25% of members. We have excellent after school care and vacation care.
