Robert Osmotherly
Vice President & Chairperson
Rob retired
from the position of General Manager of Network Ten Brisbane in 2006 a position
he held for 4 years, prior to that he was General Manager of Network Ten
Melbourne for 9 years. The move to Brisbane was twofold, first to oversee the
rebuild of the Station ready for Digital TV and secondly to improve ratings in
16-39 age demographic. Both these objectives were met with Ten being the number
one Network in Brisbane in the 16-39 demographic for the first
time in 2005.
Before joining the Ten Network Rob held various senior managerial roles in three Melbourne Post Production companies specialising in Television Commercials and Programs. Rob was responsible for the overall profitability of the companies.
Rob was introduced to the PCYC in 2004 via Nerang PCYC. Coming from Victoria where there is no PCYC Rob was very impressed with what was happening at Nerang and over the next couple of years get more involved with the Association. Rob was a Director in 2007-2009 and has seen the great value the PCYC is for communities and young people across the State. He has witnessed the passion and commitment of staff and volunteers working within the Association.
Rob is
passionate about further enhancing the Association’s profile and standing in the
community.
Brett Pointing APM
Assistant
Commissioner Brett Pointing joined
the QPS as a Police Cadet in 1978. He is currently the Assistant Commissioner
in charge of the Operations Support Command. Previously, he was Assistant
Commissioner responsible for the Metropolitan South Region and in Charge of
managing the Queensland Police Academy 2012 Project, overseeing a budget of $450
million. The project includes the building of a new police academy, a counter
terrorism training school and a forensic investigation
centre.
Assistant Commissioner Pointing has extensive police experience including Superintendent in Charge of the Gold Coast Police District, arguably the most challenging Police District in Queensland.
The Assistant Commissioner has served throughout the State including operational and management roles at Ipswich, Goondiwindi, Roma, Toowoomba, Rockhampton, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast. In 2005 he attended a three month National Academy Course with the FBI in the USA and is currently the Vice President of the FBI National Academy Associates, Asia Pacific Chapter.
He holds a Graduate Certificate in Applied Management from Charles Sturt University; a Bachelor of Policing from Monash University and a Master of Education in Leadership and Management from Queensland University of Technology.
Paul Bell
Paul Bell is President of the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) having served 6 years in that role since being elected in 2004. With 25 years continuous service as a Councillor, including 9 years as Mayor and 4 years as President of the Australian Local Government Association (ALGA), he brings with him extensive experience, connectivity and currency in Local Government. Paul is presently the Deputy Mayor the Central Highlands Regional Council.
Paul is a Director of the Queensland Local Government Superannuation Board and a Board Member of the Australian Local Government Association and has past corporate experience as Deputy Chairman of the QR Board and as a Director of the Ergon Energy Corporation. Paul’s past and present board experience and membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors gives him a practical understanding and the contemporary knowledge of corporate, financial, compliance and risk practice required of a modern organisation.
For the past 2 years Paul has been a member of the Blackwater PCYC and during his time as Mayor of the former Emerald Shire Council he instigated discussions between the PCYC Board and the Emerald Shire Council in regards to PCYC management of the now Emerald PCYC.
Paul’s service to Local Government saw him appointed a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia in the 2005 Australia Day honours.
Alan Davey APM
Alan Davey joined the Queensland Police Service in 1974 and has worked in a variety of fields including, General Duties, Criminal Investigation Branch, Juvenile Aid Bureau, lecturing at the academy, Undertaking Projects and Project Management. He has served in Mackay as an Inspector, as District Officer at both Dalby and Ipswich where he took a very active role in the respective PCYC’s.
In March 2003 he was appointed Chief Superintendent (Operations Coordinator) for the South Eastern Police Region which includes the Gold Coast, Logan City and Beaudesert Shire. During that time he provided support and leadership to the PCYC’s in the region. In early 2007 he was promoted to Assistant Commissioner Ethical Standards Command and in April 2008 transferred to his current position as Assistant Commissioner, Operations Support Command. Part of his current portfolio includes the overall state co-ordination of the PCYC’s services and initiatives.
In 2006 he was awarded the ‘Australian Police Medal’ in recognition of his leadership skills and commitment to change within the QPS.
Craig Hanlon
Craig is married with two children. Both were privileged to have been given the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities provided by the QPYCWA.
Craig is a career police officer having joined the Queensland Police Service from high school in 1983. He has worked in general duties, child protection and administrative fields.
Currently Craig is an Inspector performing the role of Staff Officer, to the Assistant Commissioner, metropolitan South Region.
Craig has a Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management)
With his previous experience in child protection, and his involvement in sports throughout his life, he understands the benefits of sports, and other activities, to improve their self esteem and allow them to become part of, and positively contribute to, their local communities.
Carolyn Healy
Life Member of the QPCYWA, with 19 years involvement with Police Youth Clubs. Carolyn is currently the Vice- Chairperson of The Hills District PCYC and was instrumental in the original set up of the club, taking on many roles within the club over these years.
Carolyn is currently working with Telstra as a Service Management Lead with a portfolio which includes customers from the Government and Corporate sector.
Carolyn has a Diploma in Human Resource Management and is also a Director of Arana Sports attached to Arana Leagues Club and has previously served 9 years as a Director of QPCYWA.
Experience in many volunteer organisations as well a passion for serving young people and assisting communities is what drives Carolyn as a Director of the QPCYWA.
Carolyn has 4 children who have all experienced life in Police Youth Clubs, 2 are current serving Qld Police Officers.
Keith Henry
Keith has held the position of vice chairman of Nerang Police-Citizens Youth Club for the past 6 years and has been a member of the committee for the past eight years.
Keith has operated his own building and construction company since 1970 and his knowledge, commercial background and expertise have been invaluable to the Club.
He is, and has been, involved in many local charities over the years. These include Nerang Rotary Club - 14 years - received Paul Harris fellowship; president, Ashmore BMX Club - five years; Order of the Demolay for Boys - five years; board member and builder of the "House With No Steps" in Burleigh Heads; founder of Nerang Meals on Wheels; president of three car clubs over 15 year period. Keith has been married to Jeanette for 44 years; they have two sons and five grandchildren. Keith's hobbies include testing classic Ford cars and travel.
Stephen Hollands APM
Stephen is a police officer and holds post-graduate degrees in law and business and has been admitted legal practitioner since 1991.
He lived in Cairns for 6 years where he was the chairman of the Cairns PCYC prior to moving to Brisbane in January 2005. During the time he was in Cairns he was also the director of a number of not-for-profit organisations: these organisations include the Far North Queensland Youth Assistance Fund, Lifeline Cairns and the Cairns Regional Domestic Violence Service.
Stephen has held a number of managerial positions and is looking forward to continuing his association with the QPCYWA. During his spare time he enjoys the odd game of tennis, cycling, walking and learning foreign languages. He has recently transferred to Rockhampton with the Police Service.
Diana O'Brien
BA, Dip.Ed. (Sydney), Justice of the Peace (Qualified)
Diana is a director of QPCYWA, has been chair and deputy chair of the Innisfail PCYC since 1995 and is currently a member of the committee. She has chaired the nominations and review committee since 2004 and been a member of the awards committee.
Diana worked as a secondary teacher and a human relationships adviser and is now a part time electorate officer. She is a trained mediator and is currently employed as sessional conciliator with the Residential Tenancies Authority.
Diana is an adjudicator of public speaking, oratory and debating for schools and service clubs. She volunteers as adjudicator's secretary for the North Queensland Eisteddfod of Music.
Diana's chosen sport is netball; currently she acts as umpire, previously a player, coach, secretary and president of Innisfail Netball Association. She has been secretary of the Innisfail Historical Society for the past 10 years.
Diana was named Johnston Shire Australia Day Citizen of the Year in 2006.
Paul Tabrett
Paul was chairperson of the Biloela PCYC until 2004 and has been a committee member since 2002. He is a sergeant in the Queensland Police Service. During the past 16 years he has worked all over Queensland, including the aboriginal community of Doomadgee.
He has a Masters in Public Policy and Administration and is a member of the Australian Institute of Management. He is heavily involved with Rotary and was previously the International Service Director for the Biloela Rotary Club. He has held a directors position with Enterprise Biloela Association Incorporated, a peak body seeking to achieve sustainable economic and social growth for the Callide Valley. Paul takes an active interest in promoting sporting and recreational opportunities for young people.
He is passionate about embracing diversity in youth and demonstrates a keen interest in youth and community development. He was co-facilitator of the Biloela PCYC Youth Management Team and has assisted at the State Youth Leadership Conference. Paul moved to the southeast corner in 2007 and is contributing to the policy development and strategic goals of the QPCYWA.
Leonie Taylor
Leonie is a chartered accountant in public practice specialising in providing business services and taxation advice to Queensland businesses. She began her career with Bentleys MRI Brisbane in 1979 and is a partner and director of the Firm.
Leonie currently serves and has served on several Boards and committees and has practical experience in implementing strong corporate governance systems within organisations. Currently her positions include chairman of Ports Corporation of Queensland, a government owned corporation, member of the Audit and Risk Committee of BUSS (Qld) and a member of the Corporate Governance Committee of Main Roads Queensland. Leonie is a strong advocate of strategic planning for businesses and the value of managing risk through strong corporate governance and financial management.
