TILT

TILT (Tomorrows Inspired Leaders Today) is the State Youth Advisory Group, a team of eight members aged 16-20 years, who represent the Youth Management Teams and their members, and the interests of young people generally at a state level.

TILT's members provide direct feedback to the Board of Directors about state-wide initiatives and the overall running of PCYC.

TILT is about young people being active in making decisions that affect their lives, rather than having someone else call the shots for them. You get the chance to voice the needs of your peers, about what you think needs to be changed, developed or incorporated into the way PCYCs are run.

You get to work alongside other young people and play a vital part in paving the way for the future of PCYCs and also have an impact on your community. It's an awesome opportunity to make things happen that you think are important.

It also means you have the experience of being in a position of responsibility, where you can contribute your own unique perspective and learn valuable skills in communication, management and facilitating.

A Director and the State Coordinator for Programs and Grants provide a direct link between the board and the TILT group. This link provides access from the Youth Management Teams through the state body and on to the Board of Directors.

Representatives are selected from all over the state - two from each of the following areas: Northern Queensland, Central Queensland, Greater Brisbane North, Greater Brisbane South, in alignment with the Community Partnership Coordinators' regions of responsibility.

TILT's mission is to generate positive connections and growth for young people through the PCYC's throughout Queensland. TILT and its members represent and support the interests and needs of young people, as well as the development of youth management teams, in positive and influential ways.

Responsibilities for TILT members may include communication, support and advice for Youth Management Teams at a local level. TILT members will:

  • represent the organisation and make presentations at official functions

  • become an advisory PCYC group on broader issues effecting young people

  • promote PCYC to the community

  • facilitate regional meetings

  • produce 6 monthly newsletter

Each year one representative from each region steps down allowing four new people to join TILT and be guided by the four members who are going through their second year on TILT.

This means that new members have the support of an experienced representative from their region for twelve months before taking over that role and supporting a new member from their region into the group.

Nominations for TILT are called at the end of each year, with the foundation meeting for each team being held over the Australia Day weekend.
