PCYC Kokoda Track Adventure
Departing 18th May 2012
The Police-Citizen Youth Club Queensland would like to invite you to join them on a journey of a life time where you will be challenged both physically and mentally as you and fourteen other like minded individuals trek the world famous Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea.
The Track
The Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea is one of the world's great hiking trails.
The 96 kilometre track begins at Ower's Corner and climbs up and over the majestic Owen Stanley Range to the village of Kokoda. You'll walk through lush rain forest, climb steep mountains, trek along high ridges and down through deep valleys, visit remote communities and experience the culture of the people of the PNG highlands. You will also learn about and see first hand many of the historic battle sites of the Kokoda Campaign of World War Two.
Fitness
Physical fitness and mental strength are essential qualities for those who tackle this challenging but rewarding trek. Leading up to the trek you will have the opportunity to join other walkers and your guide on monthly walks in the Brisbane region.
Why get involved with our adventure?
Individuals participating in this adventure will have the time of their life. Their journey will be most memorable and life changing, not only for themselves, the communities they visit on the track but also for PCYC and the Queensland's Youths it supports.
The cost
The cost to the youth lives you will be impacting on will be enormous. The funds that you raise will support such youth programs as the PCYC State Youth Leadership Program and Catalyst Program.
We are asking each individual participant to raise a minimum of $3000 or more, to support PCYC. Icon Adventures, a Brisbane based guide company will take you on your adventure and ensure your fitness levels. Their levy is $4650 and must be paid directly to them. Their fee includes a porter, all accomodation, all airfares and most meals.
