Youth Spaces
Wish there was a cool place to hang out with your mates or meet people your own age outside of school? There is! Several Queensland PCYCs have various spaces in their Clubs (e.g. Pulse Café) especially designed for teenagers - somewhere for you to spend your spare time, in a safe, supervised environment. Contact your local branch(es) to check what facilities may be available.
Pulse Café and Pulse Discos
Pulse combines entertainment and unstructured activity spaces, usually set up in a separate room adjoining the main supervised area. Specifically designed for young people, Pulse spaces can offer facilities such as pool tables, Playstation® and Xbox consoles, other games machines, a canteen, or somewhere to just relax with friends. When there's a Pulse or Bluelight Disco on, the Pulse space comes into its own as an area to chill out away from the dance floor.
Pulse Discos are popular underage dance events held at PCYCs across the state. Bluelight discos are another great event and have been hosted by PCYCs and enjoyed by teens for many years. Contact Bluelight or your local branch for more information on upcoming discos.
The launch of Pulse in 1997 at Carindale has seen most new and redeveloped branches incorporate a youth friendly entertainment space into the building design. All junior discos and dance parties hosted at a Police-Citizens Youth Club are attended by uniformed and plainclothes police officers.
