Many people start a fitness program at some time in their life, only to quit. Why don’t we finish what we start? If you are wondering how to push yourself at the gym and stay on track after that initial enthusiasm has worn off, here are some simple ideas to keep motivated.
Get a workout partner
Work out with a regular workout buddy who will call you to yell at you if you don’t show up at the gym on time. Find a buddy that will make you laugh and make your workout fun.
Keep changing your exercises
Don’t fall into the rut of doing the same exercises all the time, you will get bored. If there is one exercise that you absolutely hate, don’t do it! Find another exercise which works the same muscle group.
Think positively
Always think positive thoughts at the gym, and especially at the end of a workout. Tell yourself that you enjoyed it and pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Positive reinforcement is a powerful technique of self-motivation.
Listen to your favourite music
Listening to some upbeat, motivational music may be just the thing you need to get you into the mood!
