East Brisbane State School proud supporters of PCYC Queensland
Now entering its seventh year of service at East Brisbane State School, the PCYC Queensland Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) team has supported hundreds of children and families since 2014.
East Brisbane State School Principal Lauren Sturges has been incredibly happy with the OSHC services by PCYC Queensland and looks forward to continuing the long-standing relationship.
“Since my appointment to East Brisbane State School, I have been highly impressed with the staff and the outcomes that the PCYC OSHC team achieve,” said Ms Sturges.
“Not only does the service provide a wonderful range of learning experiences and play activities for our children, I am also proactively communicated with on my student’s needs and support measures.”
“The service also promotes our school’s high expectations of student behaviour which is incredibly important at East Brisbane SS.”
The PCYC East Brisbane OSHC team works in partnership with East Brisbane State School to enhance children’s education and wellbeing, and collaboratively develop programs to complement the school curriculum.
OSHC Service Manager Joanne Jackson is pleased with the ongoing relationship and values contributions to the service from East Brisbane State School Principal and teachers.
“Providing OSHC services at East Brisbane State School has been rewarding for staff and students alike. The teachers and students are a pleasure to work with, and we enjoy our unique location right next door to The Gabba!” said Ms Jackson.
“Over the years our staff have provided significant support to the entire school community by volunteering their time at the school canteen, at discos and movie nights, and on sports days and celebration evenings.”
“We have also offered child minding for school events like Meet the Teacher, and Parent Teacher interview nights.”
“We do this voluntarily as we appreciate the reciprocal nature of the relationship and the value the school places on our service.”
“We enjoy being actively involved in the whole school community, not just supporting the children who attend the service. Our OSHC Coordinator attends the P&C Meetings every month and we also provide a $100 bursary to selected students at the end of each year.”
Ms Sturges is looking forward to continuing to support the service throughout 2021 and beyond.
“As a trusted charity providing more than 100 OSHC services across the state, I thoroughly value the OSHC services provided to my students and families by PCYC Queensland.”
