Macey making PCYC Queensland proud!

Macey is just one of many Queenslanders who have been positively impacted through her involvement with PCYC Queensland. Flashback to 2012, just two weeks after Macey entered Australia as a Foreign National. Macey visited her local PCYC Beenleigh club and found herself joining the ‘Together We Obtain Trust Respect Inspiration Belief Enthusiasm and Support (Two Tribes)’ program, designed to provide support to foreign national and refugees/ asylum seekers to allow an easier assimilation into Australian culture. After completing the seven-week course, Macey became a regular member at the club and has continued to foster her involvement with PCYC Beenleigh ever since!

Throughout her journey Macey became a valued member of the Youth Management Team (YMT), a Youth Delegate on the Management Committee, completed her Bronze and Silver Award in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Awards, and met with Prince Edward in 2016. In addition, Macey completed all three levels of our State Youth Leadership Program (SYLP) and utilised our ‘Braking the Cycle’ program to obtain her drivers license.

When Macey arrived in Australia in 2012 her dream was to become a registered nurse to provide love, care and support to members in her community. Now, six years later, we are so proud to announce that Macey is a fully-qualified registered nurse and commenced her position as a midwife in December 2018!

The hard work and commitment from our young Queenslanders inspire us to continue our work of building safer, healthier communities through youth development, and we congratulate Macey on her outstanding achievements!
