Meet our Gymnastics Coach of the Month: Maree from Sunshine Coast
When did you join the PCYC Sunshine Coast Team?
I joined the PCYC Sunshine Coast team in November 2020.
Why did you become a coach?
I first became a coach when I was an athlete, as it was great way to help the younger members of my club and I loved being a part of the sport. I took several years off coaching to focus on my judging and sports administration career, before restarting my coaching with PCYC Sunshine Coast. I love seeing kids achieve their own personal goals, that range from learning their first cartwheel, to achieving personal bests at international events.
What is your favourite moment in gymnastics or sport?
I have been extremely fortunate that the sport of trampoline has taken me around the world, as an international trampoline judge. My favourite moment and greatest achievement was judging Trampoline at an Olympic World Cup trial event in Belarus, 2019!
What are you training for personally at the moment?
Revalidating my Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) International Trampoline Judging qualification, in 2022.
