Meet our Coach of the Month: Pamela from PCYC South Burnett
Meet our PCYC South Burnett Coach and Judge, Pamela Jones! Pamela has been with PCYC South Burnett since 2013 and is continuously seeking ways to advance her gymnastics coaching qualifications!
When did you join the PCYC Team?
I have been a volunteer coach at PCYC South Burnett since 2013, become a beginner coach, then Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) coach.
For 12 months I was a contract coach for PCYC South Burnett then in 2017 become a casual employee! Since then, I have been trying to improve my skills and add classes to introduce more people to the sport at PCYC South Burnett.
Why did you become a coach?
My daughters wanted to do gymnastics since moving to the area in 2011 and I was a parent who sat and watched them every day they attended. One day the coach said she needed help and I went to help her. I have been doing it ever since.
I am a qualified chef, but I have given up my chef work to do gymnastics coaching as I love it!
What is your favourite moment in gymnastics or sport?
When a participant gets a skill for the first time and is so happy about it. Or when they find out that they have gone up to the next level. It makes me happy that they are achieving, and I can be part of that.
What are you training for personally at the moment?
Trying to finish my WAG Module 2 and to do my Intermediate judging qualification.
