Meet our Gymnastics Coach of the Month: Colette from PCYC Caboolture
When did you join the PCYC Caboolture Team?
I started working with members at PCYC Caboolture about 4 years ago, back in 2018 as a gymnastics coach.
Why did you become a gymnastics coach?
Ever since I was a kid I’ve always loved the gymnastics environment so the sport has been a big part of who I am. As funny as it sounds, when both my children became involved in the sport, I just wanted to be out on the floor amongst all the action!
So I think that gives you the answer to that question and I love seeing kids being active, achieving skills and developing their life skills through sport.
What is your favourite moment in gymnastics?
Seeing the impact the Fitter for Life program has on the quality of life for our over 50s members holds close to my heart. Although balance and coordination may be something we take for granted in our younger years, it is life changing for older people to be able to improve these skills to function in everyday life.
What are you training for personally at the moment?
Our competitive Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) and Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) athletes are working towards the Sandgate Interclub competition and our competitive trampoline athletes are working towards the SQIC #4 Trampoline Challenge.
