Meet our Gymnastics Coach of the Month: Mallika from PCYC Ashmore
About Me
When did you join the PCYC Ashmore Team?
I joined PCYC Ashmore in April 2019.
Why did you become a coach?
I have loved Gymnastics since I was a young child and the sport has helped me in so many areas of my life. I wanted to be a part of the same opportunities for the next generation.
What is your favourite moment in gymnastics or sport?
In 2017 I got to compete in the Masters Games ages 40-50 and became the second overall Opens Champion in Australia. I still hold this title today. I received two Gold Medals for Balance Beam and Mini Tramp, and four Silver Medals for Floor, Uneven Bars, Vault and Second Overall National Champion.
What are you training for personally at the moment?
I like to be able to give gymnasts a visual prompt for learning when I coach. My training helps me maintain my strength, agility, fitness and personal development to be a better coach.
