PCYC Queensland celebrates Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Awardees

PCYC Queensland celebrated numerous awardees at the presentation of Gold Awards for The Duke of Edinburgh’s (DoE) International Award in Brisbane on Friday, 19 July.

Celebrating 12 Gold Awards at the ceremony, PCYC Queensland awardees included Tahlia Dilkes, Kerys Gadd, Maximilian Murray, Cameron van den Brink and Jake van den Brink from PCYC Gold Coast; Zeke Homann, Mohamed Kenneh and Gad Muhiire from PCYC Mt Gravatt; Thomas Klease from PCYC Toowoomba; Anna Wright and Bronte Wright from PCYC Zillmere and Charlie Thomas from PCYC Dalby.

With 2019 marking the 60 year anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Australia, several PCYC Queensland staff members were also honoured with Volunteer Recognition Awards.

Sergeant Linda Baade, branch manager at PCYC Gold Coast received a Sliver Distinguished Service Medal in recognition of eminent service to the DoE’s International Award and Award community through PCYC Gold Coast.

PCYC Gold Coast Youth Development Officer Craig Humbley, received both a Sliver Distinguished Service Medal and a Long Service Medal and Two Clasps in recognition of 30 years’ service to the DoE’s International Award and Award community through PCYC Gold Coast, The Southport School and the Queensland Award Operating Authority.

PCYC Queensland’s General Manager of Youth Programs, Stephen Tillston, also received a Silver Distinguished Service Medal in recognition of eminent service to the DoE’s International Award and Award community through PCYC Queensland.

Instrumental in the growth and development of the Award in PCYC Queensland clubs across the state, Mr Tillston’s strong leadership over 10 years has delivered outcomes of state-wide importance.

“I am incredibly proud of the growth and development of the Award in PCYC Queensland clubs across the state, and to all the members who received their Gold Awards today,” said Mr Tillston.

“I am committed to defining the evolution of the Award delivery for young people across Queensland communities, and am thrilled that PCYC Queensland is the largest community delivery partner in Queensland.”
