PCYC Queensland OSHC ACECQA Ratings
The Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) set the national benchmark for Outside School Hours Care services in Australia. The PCYC Queensland OSHC team are committed to delivering the highest quality service to our OSHC families. Six of our services have recently been assessed in seven quality areas including:
1. Educational program and practice
The program and practice of Educators is child-centred and simulating. Opportunities are maximised for enhancing every child’s learning and development.
2. Children’s health and safety
The environment safeguards and promotes the health, safety and wellbeing of children. Children have the right to quality education.
3. Physical environment
The environment is safe, suitable and provides children with rich, diverse learning experiences.
4. Staffing arrangements
The Educators encourage children’s active engagement in the program and develop warm, respectful relationships with children.
5. Relationships with children
Respectful, responsive relationships, which promote the children’s sense of security.
6. Collaborative partnerships with families and communities
Collaborative relationships with families are fundamental for achieving quality outcomes. Community partnerships based on active communication are essential.
7. Governance and leadership
Governance of the service contributes to quality environments and child development. Effective leaders establish shared values for the service and set a clear direction for continuous improvement.
Based on assessments for each of these quality areas, every service is given an overall quality rating of either:
Significant Improvement Required
This rating indicates the service does not meet one of the seven identified quality areas or legislation and there is a significant safety risk.
Working Towards National Quality Standard (NQS)
The service provides a safe education and care program, however there are one or more opportunities for improvement.
Meeting National Quality Standard (NQS)
The service provides quality education and care in all seven quality assessment areas.
Exceeding National Quality Standard (NQS)
The service goes beyond the requirements of the NQS in at least four of the seven quality areas.
Excellent
The service demonstrates sector leadership and promotes exceptional education and care.
PCYC Queensland OSHC Ratings May-July 2021
ACECQA conducted assessments of 3,086 services in Queensland during quarter 2 of 2021. Around 60% of services in the state were found to have an overall rating of Meeting National Quality Standards (NQS), with 11% determined to be Working Towards NQS. As revealed in the assessment ratings of six OSHC services below, PCYC Queensland has positive ratings, highlighting why the organisaiton remains one of the largest OSHC service providers in the state.
