PCYC Queensland proud to be part of Townsville’s Youth Recovery Task Force
Our thoughts continue to be with the entire North Queensland region following Townsville’s unprecedented floods. The damage has been immense and as the clean-up and recovery efforts continue from the deluge, we are all humbled by the enormous impact of this devastating event on families and communities.
To meet the needs of young people in the Townsville community, PCYC Queensland is proud to be amongst several key partners involved in the newly formed Townsville Youth Recovery Task Force (YRTF). The task force’s focus will be to meet recovery needs of young people through activities and programs such as free ‘youth pop-up events’ and will be delivered with the help of our Indigenous Programs team.
The aim of the events will be to provide a fun focus for children and families, give residents an opportunity to reconnect with others and share their stories, and show all those involved in the rescue and clean up how much their efforts are appreciated by the whole community.
The events will feature rides, food trucks, free BBQs, and pop up support services will be on hand including Community Recovery, Mentally Healthy Cities and Housing.
Local Support
Local companies are also joining PCYC Queensland to support the community, with Laminex holding a wonderful fundraising open day on 23 March, featuring sausage sizzle, jumping castle, entertainment, give-aways, lucky door prizes and more!
