PCYC Yarrabah to host annual Dalari Fast5 Netball Tournament

PCYC Queensland and Netball Queensland are set to host the annual Dalari Fast5 Netball Tournament for the second year at PCYC Yarrabah on Saturday, 15 August.

Welcoming girls aged from 11-14, nine teams are expected to travel to the tournament from Indigenous communities across Far North Queensland including Cape York, Kuranda, Mareeba, Mossman, Townsville and Yarrabah.

PCYC Queensland Indigenous Programs Manager North Queensland, Paul Phillips, is pleased to deliver the tournament for the second year with support from Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council.
Netball Queensland Diamond Spirit and Inclusion Lead, Lee Wilson, is delighted to continue the strong partnership with PCYC Queensland to support the growth of netball.

“Netball Queensland is pleased to support this PCYC Queensland event which provides an opportunity for young girls to foster sporting skills and come together to represent their communities,” said Mr Wilson.

“Having this tournament at PCYC Yarrabah is an amazing opportunity for women and girls to come together for fun and sport. We thank Council for their support, and through our Diamond Spirit program look forward to providing ongoing opportunities to promote the growth of netball in Yarrabah over the coming years,” said Mr Wilson.

Fast5 Netball is social and fun. The pace and speed of the game is fast and intense with six-minute quarters, with five players a side and rolling substitutes.
