Staff spotlight: Andrew from PCYC Redlands

Andrew is our PCYC Gym+Fitness Instructor from PCYC Redlands.

When did you join the team at PCYC Redlands?

I started working at PCYC Redlands as an Exercise Physiologist in 2017. I rented out a space inside the PCYC Redlands gym, and ran private fitness sessions. Over the years, I have connected with a lot of our Gym+Fitness members, and gladly consider myself a member of the community here. At the end of 2022, a position within the Gym+Fitness space opened up at PCYC Redlands and I was eager to join the PCYC team!

Why did you decide to become a trainer?

I have always been interested in sport and fitness. Growing up, I played soccer and competed in cross country, running, and athletics. I then discovered the gym during high school, and found an interest in learning the science behind exercise. This led me to studying a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology. I am constantly learning something new every day and I love seeing the progress people make in both fitness, and injury rehabilitation.

What are you training for personally now?

I have started learning the intricacies of Powerlifting techniques and have been really enjoying it! I have been training to increase my Squat, Bench and Deadlift.

What is one word that describes you?

Adaptable.
