Zumba

Zumba is a dance fitness program that incorporates elements of dance, aerobic and resistance training. The exercises include music with fast and slow rhythms, which mean the individual can set their own pace. Our wonderful instructor Taina is also able to modify any dance steps to suit the needs of the older participant of those just starting out. Zumba is perfect for any age, gender or experience level. The focus is on improving agility, mobility, strength, flexibility, balance and co-ordination, posture and fitness whilst having fun.

Move for Life 55yrs+

Move for Life is a movement program for mature adults that provides several benefits.

The program is achievable fun and provides ongoing physical and psychological stimulation. Move for Life programs are based around agility, mobility, strength, flexibility, balance and co-ordination, posture, fitness, fun and friendship. Programs can be delivered for all participants, including those less mobile or with a disability. Activities incorporate the use of hand-held apparatus; which participants can also undertake sitting.

Get Active

Our weekly Get Active class incorporates several fitness styles from circuit routines to boxing and more with the aim to keep fitness fun. This is a ‘soft impact class’ specifically designed for those over 50 and uses both the PCYC Gym and front hall. Due to the nature of this class each part of the class is tailored to each individual’s requirements.

Circuit Class

Run in our PCYC Gymnasium and incorporating equipment such as the rower, treadmill, cross trainer and free weights participants work through a carefully constructed Circuit Plan. This is a class that works on an individual’s overall fitness with the circuit stations targeting strength, balance, agility and coordination. In terms of difficulty It is a step up from our Get Active class.

Gymnasium

Medium sized fully equipped air-conditioned gymnasium with treadmills, cross trainers, rowing machines, bikes, variety of weight machines as well as free weights, skipping ropes and a cardio area. PCYC Sandgate can put together a fitness plan for an individual during their gym induction however Personal Training sessions are not available. Our gym is open only during our office opening hours and members must swipe in at the front desk before commencing. Numerous price options available from a casual fee to fortnightly, monthly, 3 monthly, 6 monthly and yearly. Parents of a child enrolled in a PCYC Sandgate activity also benefit from a reduced casual usage fee. Direct Debit is not an option as payment at PCYC Sandgate.
