Rise Up, Be Yourself (RUBY)

RUBY (Rise Up, Be Yourself) is a free physical fitness program for women who are, have been, or likely to be experiencing Domestic and Family Violence (DFV).

This program empowers women through physical exercise, companionship and connection to community supports.

Held weekly at a number of PCYCs across Queensland, RUBY is a safe place for women to socialise and exercise, while accessing support from community organisations and building positive relationships with QPS officers.

About the Program

The unique program gives participants a different outlet and tools to continue their recovery journey and break their domestic and family violence cycle by fostering connected relationships with other women in a safe, group environment. RUBY is designed to enhance women’s general well-being, emotional resilience, self-esteem and confidence in a safe and welcoming environment.

There is a 24-hour national sexual assault, family and domestic violence counselling line for any Australian who has experienced or is at risk of domestic and family violence – call 1800RESPECT or visit 1800respect.org.au.
