About the program

Our Youth Support Service provides case management services to vulnerable young people aged between 8 and 21 years-of age who are experiencing disadvantage or at risk of disconnection. We also work with 8 to 11-years-old if they have a sibling who is an active service participant.

The service is funded by the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs

Youth Support Services are tailored to the individual young person’s needs.  While it is not time-limited, it is purposeful. It works towards achieving goals to enable young people to develop skills and resilience to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

Our youth support workers can help a young person to:

  • Connect with family and community
  • Find safe, stable places to live
  • Engage in education and/or training
  • Engage in employment
  • Maintain physical & mental health; and
  • Access other support agencies & specialist services based on their interests and needs

Young at-risk people are eligible for support under this program if they are:

  • Homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • Not at school and not working or at risk of disengaging
  • Engaged with Youth Justice or Child Safety or at risk of it
  • Disconnected from family and community; and/or
  • In need of support with physical/mental health

Club & Culture

Our Club & Culture Program takes young people out of our clubs and into the local community for fun and engaging activities.

About the program

Our program creates a generational change by providing supportive and productive programs that encourage school attendance, literacy, numeracy confidence, resilience, belonging and connection to community and culture.

Each session includes ball sports, recreational activities (fishing, shell gathering for jewelry making) and cultural programs (arts and crafts, spear making, didgeridoo carving, traditional games, gathering and baking traditional foods).

Our aim is to engage in sporting, recreational, educational and cultural activities through their journey with PCYC Queensland, have access to productive activities inside and outside of school, connect with culture, develop resilience, healthy routines and have access to community resources and support.
