Rise Up, Be Yourself (RUBY)
RUBY (Rise Up, Be Yourself) is a free exercise and recovery program for women who’ve experienced domestic and family violence. It empowers women through physical exercise, companionship and connection to community supports.
Held weekly at a number of PCYCs across Queensland, RUBY is a safe place for women to socialise and exercise, while accessing support from community organisations and building positive relationships with QPS officers.
The unique program gives participants a different outlet and tools to continue their recovery journey and break their domestic and family violence cycle by fostering connected relationships with other women in a safe, group environment. Sessions include a fun, physical activity such as yoga, walking, group fitness, pilates, and team sports, followed by a chance to relax and socialise with others and community organisations. RUBY is designed to enhance women’s general well-being, emotional resilience, self-esteem and confidence in a safe and welcoming environment.
If you’re interested in RUBY for yourself, a family member, friend or client find your local PCYC club running the RUBY program, or complete the enquiry form for more information.
