Gymnastics

PCYC Townsville’s gymnastics program caters for children, teens and adults.  Did you know that gymnastics is among the best physical education a person can receive?  Participation in gymnastics during childhood has been widely documented to improve the development of fundamental motor skills; jumping, landing, and falling skills; as well as strength, flexibility, and overall fitness.  Our gymnastics pathway has been developed from a syllabus, ensuring that our members experience fun, safe, and progressively challenging gymnastics.  Our facility is air-conditioned with state-of-the-art equipment and your children will be taught by our highly experienced team of coaches.

Gymnastics is term based an lines up with the State School term calendar.

KinderGym

Our KinderGym program is a movement -based learning experience for children under five years and their parents or caregivers.

KinderGym classes are structured sessions, which introduce basic skills and strength building activities. Our program is designed to inspire motor milestones development, boost confidence and cognitive development and provides a platform for social interaction. KinderGym provides a safe environment for children to develop physical literacy in a fun playful way.

Recreational Gymnastics

At PCYC Townsville we have a range of gymnastics classes from Monday to Saturday. Our classes start with GymPrep for all our Prep aged beginners and KinderGYm graduates. Our classes than range from Gym1 to Gym6. This allows all beginners and intermediate gymnast to join our program.

GymSports

PCYC Townsville’s newest Program for gymnastics is our GymSports Program. incorporating Free-G, Tumbling and Stunting , GymSports is sure to have something to interest everyone. Our GymSports classes are:

Free-G Kids is a fusion of gymnastics, martial arts and acrobatic tricks for children aged8 -11 years.

Free-G is a fusion of gymnastics, martial arts and acrobatic tricks for teens and adults from 12 years and older. Participants will progress through the Free-G Syllabus, learning to move in and around everyday objects in a matter that is any thing but ordinary.

Free-G Advance (18+) is a fusion of gymnastics, martial arts and acrobatic tricks for teens and adults from graduates of the Free- G and all 18+ members. Participants will progress through the Free-G Syllabus, learning to move in and around everyday objects in a matter that is any thing but ordinary.

Tumble! focuses on the acrobatic skills involved in gymnastics.  Participants will progress from basic to advanced acrobatic skills in a structured manner under the guidance of a highly qualified gymnastics coach. Tumble involves the use of the sprung floor, mini-trampolines, and air track. TUMBLE!  is for teens and adults from 12 years and older.

Tumble! Advance (18+) focuses on the acrobatic skills involved in gymnastics.  Participants will progress from basic to advanced acrobatic skills in a structured manner under the guidance of a highly qualified gymnastics coach. Tumble involves the use of the sprung floor, mini-trampolines, and air track. Tumble! Advance is for teens and adults from graduates of the Tumble and all 18+ members

All gymnastics members at PCYC requires a PCYC Queensland and Gymnastics Queensland Affiliation Membership.

Kinder FreePlay

Kinder FreePlay is an open-gym session for children under five!

The session aims to provide parents and carers with an opportunity to play and interact with each other and with other parents/carers and children in a fun and safe environment.

We set up our fully air conditioned gymnastics space with a variety of climbing, jumping, swinging, and fine-motor activities, and one of our qualified KinderGym coaches is on-hand throughout the session to help out and offer activity suggestions.

Session are on:
Monday, 11.15am – 12.15pm
Tuesday, 9.30am – 10.30am
Saturday, 11.30am – 12.30pm (starting Term 3, 20th of July 2019)

$6 Per Session Plus PCYC Queensland Membership

Judo

Judo is a tremendous and dynamic combat sport that demands both physical prowess and great mental discipline. From a standing position, it involves techniques that allow you to lift and throw your opponents onto their backs. On the ground, it includes techniques that allow you to pin your opponents down to the ground and control them.

All Judo members are required to have a PCYC Queensland Membership:$20/Child $30/Adult $6/Senior $60/Family

Archery

The PCYC Townsville Archery Club’s focus is on outdoor target archery with coaches. The goal is to provide beginners the opportunity to learn skills essential for competing, while having fun. All equipment is provided for first timers and competitions are held weekly. Archery is on Wednesday 4.30-6pm and Saturday (ADV) 8-12pm.

KidFit

KidFit offers your children a variety of functional body movements along with fast moving activities with a holistic approach to developing motor and ball skills. Aimed to get your children active, fit and healthy whilst making fitness fun. KidFit will be running every Thursday 4.00pm -5.00pm.

$8 per session plus PCYC Membership

Senior Activity Group

Please note: Our Senior Activity Group is currently not running due to damage occurred during our recent severe weather events.

Our objectives are to have a pleasant happy seniors group.  We play games, and have a meeting every week with morning tea supplied and occasionally we have guest speakers.  We have regular outings once a month, fun and entertaining activities and trips. This group is focused on providing seniors with an engaging morning of games and cards every week. Occasionally there is a guest speaker.
