Gymnastics: PCYC Townsville

Did you know that gymnastics is amongst the best physical education a person can receive?  Participation in gymnastics during childhood has been widely documented to improve the development of fundamental motor skills; jumping, landing, and falling skills; as well as strength, flexibility, and overall fitness.

Our Gymnastics PATHWAYS Syllabus has been developed to ensure that our members experience fun, safe, and progressively challenging gymnastics.  Our facility is air-conditioned with state-of-the-art equipment and your children will be taught by our highly experienced team of coaches.

Gymnastics is term based in line with the State School term calendar.

Gymnastics: Under 5's (KinderGym & KinderPlay)

KinderGym

Our KinderGym program is a fun, movement-based learning program for children under five years that involves the active participation of a parent or carer. KinderGym classes are structured sessions that introduce basic gymnastics skills in addition to strength, flexibility, balance and fine motor activities, through fortnightly themed programs. Classes are conducted by our qualified coaches and are designed for children between 2-5 years, to build coordination, social skills and confidence, whilst adopting the Gymnastics Australia KinderGym guiding principles.

Fees:

Term Tuition: $150/ 10 week term
Term tuition includes PCYC Queensland Membership and Gymnastics Queensland Affiliation Membership.


KinderPlay

KinderPlay is a casual, non-structured gymnastics class for children between 9 months and 4 years of age.

The session aims to provide children, parents and carers with an opportunity to play, explore and interact with others in a fun and safe environment.

The sessions are conducted in our fully air conditioned space with a variety of climbing, jumping, swinging, and fine-motor activities, and a friendly PCYC staff member on-hand throughout the session to supervise activities and offer assistance.

Session times:

Monday-Friday 9.30am – 10.30am

Fees:

$8 Per Session Plus PCYC Queensland Membership

KinderStars

Our KinderStars program is for Pre-Prep children who are heading to school in the following year. This is an independent class (without parent/carer participation) that prepares children for Pathways fundamentals, as well as learning important skills in listening and following coach direction.

Fees:

Term Tuition: $150/ 10 week term
Term tuition includes PCYC Queensland Membership and Gymnastics Queensland Affiliation Membership.


 

Gymnastics: Recreational

Recreational Gymnastics

At PCYC Townsville, we have a range of gymnastics classes from Monday to Saturday for school aged children. Our classes start with GymPrep and then progress from Gym1 through to Gym6, providing opportunities for beginners as well as those with prior gymnastics experience.

CLASSES:

PATHWAYS Program – GymPrep
GymPrep is a 60 minute gymnastics class specifically targeted at Prep-aged beginners. We teach the basic shapes and gymnastics movement patterns in a structured environment that encourages independence, self discipline, and listening and comprehension skills.

Fees:

Term Tuition: $170/ 10 week term
Term tuition includes PCYC Queensland Membership and Gymnastics Queensland Affiliation Membership.

PATHWAYS Program – Gym 1-3 
Our Gym 1-3 classes have been developed to produce a pathway for aspiring gymnasts to learn fundamental gymnastics skills through progressive levels of achievement. In our PATHWAYS program, gymnasts will develop skills associated with tumbling, vaulting, swinging, balance, handstands, flexibility and strength. Our Gym 1-3 classes are 60 minute gymnastics lessons.

Fees:

Term Tuition: $170/ 10 week term
Term tuition includes PCYC Queensland Membership and Gymnastics Queensland Affiliation Membership.

PATHWAYS Program – Gym 4-6
Our Gym 4-6 classes are for gymnasts with prior gymnastics experience and are designed to reflect the skill requirements of the Australian Levels Program for Levels 1-3. In Gym 4-6, gymnasts will develop skills on vault, bars, beam and floor apparatus, whilst developing strength, flexibility and handstand techniques. Our Gym 4-6 classes are 120 minute gymnastics lessons. For more information, please contact our administration.

Gymnastics: MAG/WAG Competitive Classes

MAG & WAG Squads

In our MAG & WAG Squads, gymnasts will progress through the competitive levels of the Australian Levels Program. Gymnasts within these groups aspire to a high level of performance, whilst training under the guidance and encouragement of our experienced competitive coaches. In order to be selected in our MAG or WAG Squads, gymnasts must have progressed through our PATHWAYS program or possess prior gymnastics experience of a similar standard. Gymnastics: GymSports

GymSports

PCYC Townsville’s GymSports Program includes Ninja, Tumbling and TeamGym. GymSports is sure to have something to interest everyone!

CLASSES:

Ninja Gymnastics

Do you enjoy jumping and climbing?

Our Ninja Gymnastics program combines freestyle and parkour movements, whilst incorporating tumbling and acrobatic skills, strength and agility circuits. Participants will learn to move in and around everyday objects in a manner that is anything but ordinary. Ninja Gymnastics is a 60 minute class for children aged 8-12 years.

Fees:

Term Tuition: $170/ 10 week term
Term tuition includes PCYC Queensland Membership and Gymnastics Queensland Affiliation Membership.

Tumble

Tumble focuses on the acrobatic skills involved in gymnastics.  Participants will progress from basic to advanced acrobatic skills in a structured manner under the guidance of a highly qualified gymnastics coach. Tumble involves the use of the sprung floor, mini-trampolines, and air track. Our Tumble class is for teens and adults from 12 years of age. Tumble participants train 1 hour per week.

TeamGym

Would you like to flip, roll, jump and dance with your friends?

New to PCYC Townsville – our TeamGym program involves gymnasts combining to perform a group routine that exhibits gymnastics skills on floor, air track and mini-trampoline. TeamGym is a 60 minute class for children from 10 years of age. Prior gymnastics/cheer/dance experience is required.

Judo

Judo is a tremendous and dynamic combat sport that demands both physical prowess and great mental discipline. From a standing position, it involves techniques that allow you to lift and throw your opponents onto their backs. On the ground, it includes techniques that allow you to pin your opponents down to the ground and control them.

All Judo members are required to have a PCYC Queensland Membership:$20/Child $30/Adult $6/Senior $60/Family

Senior Fitness (SHAB)

This is a low impact circuit class, with a mixture of upper and lower body exercises to improve your core strength and balance, and cardio fitness in a friendly and positive environment. Classes are self-paced and are aimed at over 50’s, although everyone is welcome to attend.

Senior Activity Group

Senior Activity Group Tues 9-11am

Our objectives are to have a pleasant happy seniors group.  We play games, and have a meeting every week with morning tea  and occasionally we have guest speakers.  We have regular outings, fun and entertaining activities and trips. This group is focused on providing seniors with an engaging morning of games and cards every week. .
