WE WANT YOU VOLUNTEER MENTORS NEEDED
PCYC Zillmere are always looking for mentors. Mentors play a vital role in the Braking the Cycle (BTC) program. Mentors help support 16-25 year old participants to increase their logbook hours whilst they are on their learners licence. Braking the Cycle is a state wide learner driver mentoring program that empowers young people who, due to financial hardship or social barriers, would otherwise be unable to achieve the mandatory 100 hours of supervised driving. Mentoring is more than just practical instruction, mentors provide encouragement and help young people improve their self-esteem and develop positive road safety attitudes.
We provide all necessary training to support you in your mentoring role (both online and 2 x 3 hour face to face training workshops). Sessions all take place in a PCYC vehicle, meaning all you need is your licence, blue card and time.
All you need is a willingness for the role and any necessary training, have held an open licence for at least 1 year, and have the ability to apply for a Blue Card, and Restricted Drivers Authorisation (RDA)- we can support with these applications.
We have attached the role criteria to further explain what mentoring entails.
If this sounds like just the opportunity you’ve been looking for, you can apply online via https://www.pcyc.org.au/get-involved/volunteer/ or come down to our club to fill in an application form. Still unsure, give us a call on 3633 0244 to answer any questions you may have.
