Rachel describes herself as “the crazy, awkward, passionate trainer lady”. Clients are known to give her nicknames such as “the smiling assassin” because she comes into every workout with intention and aiming to give them all the very most of herself and the workout.
When did you join the team at PCYC Deception Bay?
I have only been with PCYC Deception Bay for a few months now, however I began my journey here 15 years ago as a program participant that led me to my career in fitness.
Why did you want to become a trainer and what do you love about the fitness industry?
I am so passionate about the positive impact fitness has on every aspect of our lives, being able to bring this to others, make it accessible and watching people grow and develop their confidence, their fitness, and their sense of community is just such a rewarding thing.
Are you training for anything personally now?
Right now, I am just training to stay on top of my game as a professional, a mother, and to make sure I can workout and move well into my older years!
What is your favourite Activ8 Group Training class to teach and why?
My favourite Activ8 Group Training class it the Activ8 Core class because it has such huge impact on keeping people moving and developing all the stabilising muscles and postural muscles in the body while making people feel great.
What is your favourite moment in your personal fitness journey?
Honestly, every time I have watched a client who started out anxious or very much introverted or scared come into their own and start to open up and just flourish in the gym community and outside of it. It’s always a huge highlight for me.
Do you have any advice or inspirational quotes for others in the fitness industry?
Really just the phrase, “actually, I can…” Because whether you think you can or think you can’t – you are right. Applying that mindset can be life changing. Because actually… you can!
